I don’t know about any of you, but for me “a good night’s sleep” is often one of those elusive ghost-like things that people talk about but I don’t get to experience up close and personal very often…. well… maybe if I’m really, really tired I do…
These days there are so many things that cause us stress, that getting enough sleep can be a real challenge. From money concerns to relationships and work, the stressors are all around us creating internal conflicts to the point where our brains are in overload mode all day long, and we don’t know how to slow them down when it comes time to turn-in at the end of the day.
As I did a bit of reading to prepare for this blog, I was surprised to find out that there are actually places called ‘catnap rooms’ that can be rented by the minute. Sheesh, I would go broke before I ever fell asleep in a situation like that – imagine laying there knowing you are paying (by the minute) and NOT being able to fall asleep! Talk about an additional stressor. No thanks.
From eye masks and white noise generators, to special mattresses and sleep aids, for some, the pursuit of a good night’s sleep can become something close to obsessive. Not to mention expensive. For me personally to fall asleep I need two things, a good book and something comfy to sleep in… and while neither is a guarantee, it usually works eventually.
When I was little my Gramma used to buy me these long flannel nightgowns that were absolutely hideous to wear if you planned on doing any moving whatsoever while in bed. Those darn things were soft as anything, but without fail I would find myself all tangled up with the nightgown halfway up my body creating an uncomfortable lump somewhere in the vicinity of my waist… you know the one’s I’m talking about. When it comes to me and pajamas, less is definitely more!
For research purposes, I did a Pintrest search on “1890’s Sleepwear” to check out what some of our ancestors wore when they laid down for the night.
Here’s a little of what I found.
If you have read some of the previous posts I have written in here, (see ”Smittys Rancho and You – Poolside (6/15/14) and “Mid-Summer Lingere Spotlight” (7/20/14), you know I’m not a fan of yards and yards of fabric and lace all over my person…. when it comes to sleepwear – all I can say is ditto.
Lucky for us, Smittys Rancho, and Wilderness Dreams understands a thing or two about sleeping in comfort.
Let me show you two of my favorites from the website.
For summertime, there’s the Baby Doll Lingerie Set available in three colors – naked north pink, naked north snow, and mossy oak breakup. This two piece soft & sheer set will keep you nice and cool and is a lil sexy to boot.
And when temperatures start to get cooler (here in Ohio – that’s just around the corner), my favorite is the Wilderness Dreams Henley Night Shirt. This awesome night shirt is mid thigh length – so we don’t get all tangled up in it – and it has three quarter length sleeves so your shoulders stay warm while you read that latest best-seller before bedtime.
This night shirt comes in two camo patterns – mossy oak break up, and naked north snow. Did I mention it is made from a soft and silky polyester fabric? Cozy!
Whatever your ‘comfort zone’ is when it comes to sleeping gear, I’m sure we have something that’s just right for you. Make sure to see all of what we have to offer at the links below.
Thanks for stopping by, sleep well, and see you next time!
