Smittys Rancho – Big Doings Going On!

Well there is just so much going on here at Smittys Rancho I hardly know where to begin.  This weekend we moved to our brand new store location – hooray!

Here is a map of our new location in downtown Massillon – circled in red at the corner of Tremount and 1st Street – 143 1st St SE in Massillon 44646.

This big multi-level building was originally named The Citadel – “a castle or fort that in past times was used to protect the people of a city if the city was attacked” (Merriam Webster).  The name will stay, and housed in this great building along with our Smittys Rancho store is AJ Harris Tactical – Guns, Ammo, CCW Classes, Hunting and Fishing licenses, and more.

There is also going to be an internet café called The Fifty Caliber Café where folks can stop in and socialize after shopping in our store or drop in for a coffee or other beverage after taking a CCW class.

So let’s take the mini tour of our brand new two-room Smittys Rancho Store!

In room number one we have the “Camo Closet”.  The three areas of our closet are – camo clothing rack, the footwear wall & our lingerie chest of drawers.

     

 

Next we step into room number two and find our totes, purses, and CC bags as well as our unique jewelry items – fun!

Also in the news this week – we managed to get past our technical difficulties and our microwave bowl holders are now available to buy online or in our store.  See more about them here (April 20 Blog) and on our website… and don’t forget they’re great for insulating your ice cream from the summer heat too!

 

     

These handy holders are the first in a set of four matching Smittys Rancho Brand items you can purchase for your kitchen.  Watch for the next three releases coming in June, August, and October.   Make sure to collect them all… and for Christmas…  well you’re just going to have to wait to see the awesomeness we have designed for our two final 2015 items.

And finally – the workshop/sewing room where our Smittys Rancho brand products are ‘born’ (just a couple miles up the road from our new store) is now completed and open for business –  watch here for the latest products and designs like this awesome duck and camo fabric CC tote.

Smittys Rancho – Moving Sale and Growing Our Product Selection

Hopefully you receive our email, but if you don’t, you haven’t heard the great news – we’re moving our store to a new location – but don’t worry, we’re staying in the downtown Massillon Ohio area.

And all this means savings for YOU! Between 4/18 – 4/25 you can receive 20% off the website and all items at our current store located at 109 Erie St., Massillon Ohio 44647.

We’re still going to be under the same roof with Harris Tactical but our new space will be divided into two areas:

Information Please – Even When the Power is Out

Here in Northeast Ohio, Spring not only brings sweet smelling flowers and fresh green grass, it also brings violent thunderstorms and the potential for damaging tornadoes… that’s why having a plan for when the power goes out is important.

Ohio.Gov recommends some steps to preparing for a power outage:

• “Update or build an emergency kit and make a family communications plan”
• If you still have power, “keep the use of electricity as low as possible, which can help power companies avoid imposing rolling blackouts”
• “Fill plastic containers with water and place them in the refrigerator and freezer – will help keep food cold during a temporary power outage”
• “Keep your gas tank in your vehicle at least half full because gas stations rely on electricity to power their pumps”

And just in case you didn’t know, here are a few great tips from First Energy on installing and using a backup generator:

• Follow all instructions in the manufacturer’s written documentation, such as an operating manual, and all local building codes
• Never connect a generator directly to your home’s electrical system without a proper isolation device
• Never locate a generator inside your home
• Direct exhaust away from windows, doors and vents
• Install CO detectors/alarms throughout your home to ensure you are aware of the presence of CO gas

Smittys Rancho – Helping take the Sting out of Spring

Well, it finally looks like we might actually see spring here in Northeast Ohio this year – we were getting a little worried with this last snow and the continuing freezing temperatures… so in preparation for spring / summer I wanted to pass along some great information on how to reduce and prevent those pesky mosquitoes from ruining your well earned outdoor activities – because it’s never too early to plan your defense.

According to National Geographic, there are over 3000 different species of mosquito, several of which can carry disease that can be harmful to humans and other mammals.   As most people know, mosquitoes need standing / still water for the first cycles of their life until they are adults; therefore the removal or reduction of standing water is very important to controlling these pests. “Aquatic habitats are containers in which eggs develop into adult mosquitoes” (CDC).

See the examples below borrowed from the CDC website of natural and man-made areas that can breed mosquitoes in your yard and adjacent properties.

Another important piece of information to know is that mosquitoes find their prey (maybe you) by using “use exhaled carbon dioxide, body odors and temperature, and movement to home in on their victims” so you will want to make sure you have something useful to defend yourself with like Permethrin Premium Clothing Insect Repellant by Sawyer.

Like every other living creature the mosquito is not all bad – they provide nourishment for birds and other creatures that benefit your backyard garden like bats and frogs. Since only the female bites, not every mosquito is the bloodthirsty insect we expect it to be.

The repellent product by Sawyer is affordable as well as long lasting, making it a necessity for your backyard and other big outdoor adventures this year. The active ingredient in this repellent, “Permethrin, is a synthetic molecule similar to pyrethrum which is taken from the Chrysanthemum flower” (Smittys Rancho). When we say long lasting, we mean that this repellent when sprayed on your clothing can last through as many as six washings and still be effective.

I’m hoping you will make a plan now to avoid these pesky critters throughout your spring and summer activities by making Sawyer a household name with your family.
